Suprarex cutting systems used for constructing wind turbines

ESAB Cutting Systems is supplying two Suprarex cutting systems, each fitted with three gas cutting heads, to TAG Energy Solutions for installation at the company's new 42-acre site at Haverton Hill, Billingham, on Teesside. Here a new automated production facility will roll and weld large-diameter tubular sections used in the construction of offshore wind turbine jacket and monopile foundations.

TAG Energy Solutions is intent on securing a strong position in the offshore wind energy supply chain and is demonstrating its confidence in the emerging renewable energy market with the construction of this plant. The company's vision for this facility has been made a reality after the company secured funding to supplement its own investment of several million pounds.

ESAB Cutting Systems was selected to supply the Suprarex cutting systems on account of its experience in manufacturing and supplying cutting machines for the offshore wind industry. ESAB has also been able to fulfil TAG Energy Solutions' requirements for high-quality machines with high levels of cutting accuracy. As part of the contract, ESAB Cutting Systems is providing TAG Energy Solutions with project support services and after-sales support through an engineer based locally.
