Tact switches benefit from extended lifetime

C&K Components reports that two of its ranges of tact switches now feature an extended operating life; the company claims that this makes the switches the most reliable choice for designers of industrial, automotive and consumer products.

Tact switches benefit from extended lifetime

Of particular interest to the automotive and consumer electronics sectors who require ultra-reliable yet miniature switches, the new, long-life KSR devices have an operational life of up to 200,000 cycles. Measuring just 6 x 3.8 x 1.75mm, these switches benefit from features including silver or gold plating, G terminations and rubber actuators. Configured with normally-open contacts, the KSR tact switches offer a range of four actuation forces and are RoHS-compliant.

C&K's high-quality manufacturing process also results in a significant increase in the operational life of its KSC series tact switches – targeted at the industrial sector – which now perform up to 1,000,000 cycles, the equivalent of 274 operations every day for ten years. Measuring 6.2 x 6.2 x 2.5mm, these sealed switches feature silver or gold plating, J or G terminations, different actuator types, normally-open contacts and a range of five actuation forces.

As with all C&K tact switches, both the KSC and KSR series are RoHS-compliant.

Gary Mountford, C&K's sales and marketing director, comments: "Reliability has become a strategic issue for most consumers of electronic components. Thanks to our high-quality manufacturing processes, we have been able to extend the life expectancy of our already industry-leading tactile switches even further, outperforming our customers' quality objectives and enabling them to offer even longer guarantees for their own products, therefore improving their brand image."
