Tank breathers keep moisture out and vapours in

Brownell is extending its range of tank vent breathers and adsorbers to prevent the contamination of valuable fluids from harmful moisture condensation in many process applications, while, at the same time, avoiding the release of toxic vapours from the tank into the atmosphere.

Installation of these breathers is quick and simple, with a direct connection to an existing breather or vent pipe, thereby removing the water vapour before it can enter the tank.

A removable adsorbent container enables the unit's desiccant material to be changed without breaking the breather pipe connection. Furthermore, a distinctive change in the desiccant's colour signals when it is saturated and needs to be replaced or reactivated.

Fluid properties adversely affected by humidity and moisture vapour adsorption include viscosity, electrical insulation and chemical stability. High adsorbed water levels can also lead to fluids freezing at low temperatures.
