Tech company backs UK manufacturing's flagship annual conference

EEF has secured the backing of a leading technology company for its flagship annual national manufacturing conference due to take place in London 24th February. The move recognises the strategic importance of collaboration between the two sectors, particularly in driving productivity improvement and grasping opportunities presented by Industry 4.0.

Infor, a provider of "beautiful' business applications, specialised by industry and built for the cloud, which serves more than 73,000 customers worldwide, including 18 of the top 20 aerospace companies and all of the top 10 high tech companies globally, is sponsoring a report, specially commissioned for the conference, which will address manufacturing productivity.

The report will set the scene for one of the conference's key panel debates - the productivity challenge - what's the solution? Infor's Senior Vice President, Lisa Pope, will be speaking as an expert panellist.

It is the second year running that Infor has played a key "thought-leadership' role at the conference. Last year it was responsible for sponsoring a ground-breaking new report, Manufacturing, Britain's Future, which looked at how technology is a major driver of Industry 4.0 - and how manufacturers, Government and policy-makers need to react in order to ensure that Britain remains at the forefront of change.

Terry Scuoler, CEO of EEF, says: "Clever use of data and technology will be critical in helping UK manufacturers to not only crack the productivity puzzle, but also stay at the forefront of Industry 4.0. This will require increasing levels of collaboration between our two sectors, so I am delighted that Infor has come on board again this year to help us engage and inform manufacturers on this crucial theme."

Lisa Pope, Senior Vice President at Infor, says: "British Manufacturers need to look beyond the production line and outside of the four walls of their own operation in order to take a truly holistic view of their extended enterprise.

"We like to summarise this as the 4Ps - People, Processes, Products and Partners. Manufacturers need to take this complete strategic view in order to really make a difference to their overall productivity. Increasingly, mission-critical, micro-vertical applications - both on premise and in the cloud - are one of the most vital components for manufacturing success."
