Unitemp is introducing a new range of cost-effective temperature and humidity chambers for testing the reliability and performance of batteries. They are intended primarily for two types of batteries: those consisting of a solar cell and thermal cell; and chemical batteries containing a fuel cell, primary cell and rechargeable secondary cell.
There are three standard test procedures that can be undertaken:
ESPEC's Platinous range of environmental test chambers, now available through Unitemp, comprises four models with a temperature range of -40 to +150degC, while two of the models also have a humidity range of 20 to 98 per cent.
Because the testing of batteries can produce unpredictable results, safety features are included to help protect operators. These include a gas detection system with a wide temperature range, a rapid air exchange function, a pressure relief vent, a reinforced chamber door, a safety door lock, a control signal for external systems, a fire extinguisher system and an additional overheat protector.
The Platinous chambers are constructed inside and out from stainless steel and have internal measurements of between 500 x 600 x 750mm and 1000 x 900 x 1000mm.
An optional viewing window has pane heaters to help keep them clear of condensation and frost, and a chamber light is built into the window for viewing the battery under test. Other features include an easy-to-use control panel, hinged service panels for easy access, and castors.
These new test chambers complement Unitemp's already extensive range of test and monitoring chambers and ovens. Furthermore, Unitemp has the expertise to customise chambers if required.
