The new fail-safe AZM400 solenoid interlock from Schmersal

At the SPS IPC Drives trade fair in November, the Schmersal Group presented an extension to its programme of solenoid interlocks. Characteristic properties of the compact AZM400 include the very high clamping force of 10,000 N, the bistable active principle and the electro-motorised locking pin. This means that the new range is also suitable for very large, motor-powered safety doors, e.g. machine tools and tool centres, machine and plant construction, doors with high manual forces, actuated and motorised safety doors and safety doors in front of run-down and dangerous movements. The combination of electronics and sensors represents a high level of availability from the user's perspective as well as interesting additional functions with a very high level of safety.

The new fail-safe AZM400 solenoid interlock from Schmersal

  • Bistable, motor-driven system with holding force of 10,000N
  • Individually coded version with coding level "HIGH' according to ISO 14119
  • PL e / cat.4 / SIL 3 for interlocking and guard locking function
  • Two-channel input signal of the guard locking function
  • Operation on P/P and P/N switching outputs
  • High tolerance to door misalignment
  • Up to two diagnostic outputs
  • Emergency exit or manual release
  • Optional: electric manual release with auxiliary voltage
  • Assembly set for simple installation on 40mm aluminium profiles

LED display: Smart diagnostic by means of 3-colour LEDs. Red - Fault / Yellow - Device condition / Green - Supply voltage.

Two-connector version: AZM400 (-ST2) version with additional M12 5-pole connector plug for connection of electric manual release and diagnostic output.

Manual release: For setup and commissioning of the machine, the solenoid interlock can be released without power with the aid of a triangular key

The AZM400 makes unlocking against lateral forces of up to 300N possible. In this way, interruptions in the production process are avoided and productivity of the machines and systems is increased. Thanks to the integrated safety-related sensor technology, the bolt position can be monitored and fault conditions identified. Consequently, the number of fault messages is reduced, which likewise contributes towards greater productivity.
