Tightening the reins on humidity and temperature levels

Sensors keep watch over control panels and other sensitive electrical and electronic equipment

Tightening the reins on humidity and temperature levels

Described as easy to install and requiring no user set-up, humidity sensors in the new LDH29x range from ifm electronic are said to provide a “convenient, reliable and cost-effective method of monitoring humidity and temperature levels in control panels and other items of sensitive electrical and electronic equipment”.

This is particularly useful for equipment such as vending machines and ticket issuing machines, which are often installed in outdoor locations where they are exposed to weather and fluctuating levels of ambient moisture.

The sensors, which feature compact construction and are suitable for surface or DIN-rail mounting, can also be used to provide accurate humidity and temperature information for control purposes in moisture-sensitive manufacturing processes.

Two humidity sensors available

Two versions of ifm’s new humidity sensors are available. The LDH290 version provides two conventional 4 to 20 mA analogue outputs, while the LDH292 version provides a digital IO-Link output that is said to ensure “accurate data transmission, irrespective of the length of the connection between the sensor and its associated control system”.

Both versions provide an output of 0-100% RH, while the temperature sensor has a range of -40 to +60 ºC for analogue types and -40 to +80 ºC for IO-Link types

Electrical connections to LDH29x humidity sensors use a standard M12 connector and ifm offers a full range of compatible ready-terminated connecting cables as optional accessories.
