Torque transducer also measures speed, angle and power

HBM's latest T12 digital torque transducer integrates high-precision measurement and analysis tools – such as monitoring and diagnostic functions – for automation systems while ensuring maximum reliability. HBM is introducing the T12 to markedly reduce the development times required in the automotive industry.

Torque transducer also measures speed, angle and power

The T12 measures torque, rotational speed and angle, power, and temperature with maximum precision. All measurement signal conditioning is fully integrated in the transducer to greatly increase the quality of the signal and reduce measurement uncertainty. HBM's T12 is claimed to be the first transducer that combines the flexibility of digital signal processing with high measurement accuracy and a large measurement frequency range. The transducer's accuracy is said to be proven by the fieldbus specification of the torque signal and the frequency output:

  • Linearity deviation including hysteresis: ±0.02%, opt ±0.01%
  • Rel standard deviation of reproducibility: ±0.01%
  • Temperature effect on the sensitivity: ±0.03%/10K
  • Temperature effect on the zero signal: ±0.02%/10K{
opt ±0.01%/10K}

With a large measurement frequency range from 0 to 6000Hz (-3dB), the T12 enables highly dynamic test benches and measurements to be simulated. Since the resolution of torque measurement effectively reaches the physical limits of strain gage technology, switching of measurement ranges is not required. Internal aliasing is prevented by the high sampling rate. CAN parameterisation and the T12 Assistant control software ensure easy maintenance and use.
