HBM's TB2 torque reference transducer has a typical relative zero error of less than 0.003 per cent – which exceeds the requirements for class 0.05 as defined by DIN 51309 or EA 10-14 – to meet demands for greater torque measurement accuracy on test benches. The standard for class 0.5 requires measured values to range within 40-100 per cent of the nominal (rated) torque.
In the range of 10-100 per cent of the nominal torque, the TB2 typically has a relative repeatability error with rotation of less than 0.02 per cent and a relative reversibility error of less than 0.03 per cent. These calibration results confirm that the TB2 provides maximum accuracy and reproducibility in torque measurements.
HBM has designed the TB2 particularly for non-rotating use with continuous calibration and for static and dynamic measurement. It features a closed measuring body geometry with internally installed strain gauges to provide the measuring system with a virtually hermetic seal against environmental influences. The strain gauge measuring system enables all amplifiers for strain gauge full bridges to be used.
These transducers are suitable for calibrations in industrial applications when reference transducers are used and provide easy connections to different interfaces and fieldbus systems. Amplifiers such as the ML38B module of the MGCplus system integrate the TB2 into the complete measurement chain from HBM.
The TB2 is available with nominal (rated) measuring ranges of: 500Nm, 1kNm, 2kNm, 3kNm, 5kNm and 10kNm and it is also available with IP67 protection as per EN 60529.
