Touch Panel HMIs incorporate STEP7-compliant PLC
Following the successful launch of its Touch Panel family of operator panels in 2005, VIPA is now offering new versions with an integrated PLC powered by its leading-edge SPEED7 processor technology. Retaining all the functionality of the Touch Panel family and available in screen sizes from 8.4-12.1inch, the PLC supports the Siemens STEP7 programming language and can maintain logical connections with the display.
With all the components and features required of a fully operative small controller, system expansion is via rear panel connections using standard I/O modules from VIPA's 100V and 200V control systems. Available in a number of configuration options with digital and analogue I/O, relays and counters, the combination of HMI with integrated PLC and expansion modules can provide a complete control and HMI package for applications in factory, process and building automation. In terms of speed, the SPEED7 equipped PLC is claimed to match the Siemens 414 series.
The operator panels employ the Windows CE 5.0, open architecture XML operating system with options of zenOn 6.21 or MoviconX program editors. Software installation is via SD-card or Ethernet TCP/IP.
With an attractive finish and dimmable backlit display, the new panels are IP65 rated on the screen-side and feature a robust die-cast aluminium housing, making them suitable for applications in harsh environments.
