USB 3.0 single-board camera with 18 MP Aptina colour sensor

The new from IDS Imaging Development Systems with Aptina's 18 MP sensor AR1820HS is well suited for narrow installation situations and currently offers the highest resolution in the market. The rolling shutter colour sensor ensures detailed images at VGA, 4K Cinema, or 18 MP resolution. Thanks to BSI technology (Backside Illuminated), the 1/2" sensor is very light-sensitive. Thus, it is suited for high-resolution visualisation applications such as microscopy, barcode reading, OCR or medical engineering.

As the board measures only 36 × 36mm, the small dimensions make the USB 3.0 board-level camera interesting for designers of small apparatus. They also benefit from the numerous connection options, which include an 8-pin connector with 5V power supply, trigger and flash, two GPIOs, and an I2C bus to control the peripherals.

This cost-effective industrial camera delivers images in the following resolutions amongst others: Full HD (1920 × 1080, 37 fps), 4K Cinema (4096 × 2304, 18 fps) and 18 MP (4912 × 3684, 11 fps). The BSI sensor shows a much better pixel performance, even under low-light conditions, as the image sensor with its light-sensitive structures is directly located behind the lens, allowing more light to reach the photodiode.

In addition to a board-level version with S-Mount lens holder and a single-board version, a housed version is also available. The IDS Software Suite is included which is a SDK across multiple interfaces. This driver package enables time-saving integration for users, and easy switching from USB 2.0 to USB 3.0 technology.
