User interface suits legal-for-trade truck weighing applications

Truck loads can now be checked easily and accurately with HBM's DIS2116 digital interface rather than a PC-based device. Designed to integrate with HBM's C16 digital load cells, the DIS2116 interface provides encrypted data transfer for added security in legal-for-trade applications and gives a complete check-in and check-out scale for trucks.

The largest device that can be supported is a triple platform with eight C16 load cells for each platform; digital C16 load cells are available for loads from 20-60t.

Because the digital equipment is maintenance-free, this interface is particularly suitable for use in countries with low population density and towns separated by large distances - such as Russia, Brazil, China and Australia. In addition, the DIS2116 will forecast likely maintenance on the mechanical parts of truck scales some weeks in advance through internal scale checks.

Only a few software commands are needed to integrate the DIS2116 into a host system. All legal-for-trade information - such as dates - is held internally.

The DIS2116 features electronic off-centre load compensation so that only a single mass on each corner of the truck scales is needed for initial calibration to remove mechanical corner errors. This takes very little time compared with the two to three hours required for shifting loads and adjusting the registers on analogue systems.

Compliant with the new European WELMEC 7.2 rules, the device provides data storage and has a number of interfaces to suit a variety of applications. These include three RS232 ports, an RS485 port for connecting power and load cells and an optional Anybus port for connection to Ethernet, Profibus or other bus systems.

An SD memory card can be used for the storage of all settings such as calibration parameters and alibi memory. This makes it easy to transfer scale parameters to a new unit by simply exchanging the SD card.
