WDS is proud to be "˜Made in Britain'

Unlike many UK-based component suppliers, WDS invests heavily in its manufacturing capabilities and is responsible for producing the majority of its product catalogue in-house. In addition to its range of standard parts it also manufactures the Spencer Franklin range of hydraulic clamping components; and bespoke workholding products - which are regularly specified for use in the aerospace industry. The award of the Made in Britain marque, allows WDS to prove to customers that its components have been made in the UK to the company's own exacting standards.

Chris Putman, Sales and Marketing Director explains: "We are extremely proud of our UK heritage and want customers to know that the majority of our products are manufactured here, under our own roof. This aspect of our business is important because it means that we can assure our quality, it also means that we can adjust our production schedules to meet demand, reducing lead times on most orders.

Of course the UK isn't the only country that manufactures quality components. We work with many high-quality component manufacturers around the world and are proud to include their products in our catalogue; but, our UK facilities offer a direct benefit to all of our customers and we believe that this should be celebrated."

The Made in Britain marque is managed by a not-for-profit organisation called Made in Great Britain Campaign Ltd. led by a committee of MDs and CEOs of UK manufacturing companies. It was formed after independent research carried out in 2011 showed that 67 per cent of people wanted an official seal of approval to show that a product has been made in Britain. The marque is now awarded to companies who can prove that their goods have been manufactured in Great Britain.
