Woking at height with aerospace manufacturers at MRO Europe

Bosch Rexroth has revealed how it has been working with global aerospace manufacturers to help them meet the challenges of working at height. The company gave a live demonstration of its aluminium staging technology, which is already being used by a number of aerospace manufacturers, at this year's MRO Europe at London's ExCel (24th - 26th September).

Engineers Andy Minturn and Mark Dash from Bosch Rexroth were also on stand describing how they worked closely with aerospace automation experts Electroimpact to design an ergonomic manufacturing system for the Airbus A350 XWB. The project saw both companies meet the challenges of going from vertical to horizontal wing manufacture, including ensuring under cover and under structure access. The result is a manufacturing system that is ergonomically sound, optimised for lean manufacturing techniques and fully integrated with automated processes.

As an added bonus Airbus can add to or modify the system when needed, marking a key point of difference from traditional welded structures.

Andy Minturn, Specialist Sales, says: "Our latest staging technology has proved hugely popular for aerospace manufacture, maintenance and repair. It's the perfect solution for a whole range of access challenges and has the added benefit of being easily adapted as and when needed, making it ideal for a cutting-edge sector such as aerospace. Perhaps of even more value to our customers is our ability to provide a team of experts who can work with them to optimise processes and design a system that best suits their needs."
