Workstation has height-adjustable assembly table and shelves
MiniTec's modular aluminium profile system has been made full use of for a technical product assembly workstation where the customer requirements included individual height-adjustable assembly bench and material provisioning shelves. This ergonomic solution allows assembly technicians to set-up their most productive working environment by maintaining a neutral standing or sitting working posture - with the aid of electric actuators and a simple control console that includes a multiple memory function to store and recall their preferred table and shelf heights.
The assembly workstation, part of an interlinked production cell that includes a MiniTec conveyor and a Kanban rack for parts delivery, demonstrates the flexibility and adaptability of the MiniTec aluminium profile system range. The complete assembly was designed and built using only MiniTec components - including the modular electric drives and control system. The custom-designed workstation provides shelf and bench height adjustment of 700mm to suit sitting or standing positions, whilst a load capacity of 5000N and a lifting speed of 13mm/sec ensures rapid and safe traversing.
The modular MiniTec profile system is based on a large selection of square or rectangular section profiles and modular components and accessory elements that combine for complete machine frames, workstations, safety guards and automated machines with positioning, conveying and parts handling capability. All rail profiles include a common "T' groove on two or more sides that allow the lightweight high-strength structural elements to be freely combined using a fastening system known as "power-lock' that facilitates easy assembly with a single Allen key and requires only that the rails are cut to length with no additional machining or modification. This time and cost-saving fastening method reduces assembly effort and allows re-use of profiles, reduces stock inventory and facilitates straightforward modification and adaptation of framing systems as required.
A design and assembly service for the profile system is available from MiniTec UK Ltd, or users can develop their own designs using the free-of-charge iCAD Assembler software. Available for standalone design development as an on-line tool or integrated with the customer's preferred software system through interfaces with all common CAD packages, the 3D software provides design visualisation as well as parts lists for costing and planning.
