Yuasa Battery Sales (UK) is launching new Yu-Power YPC batteries that are claimed to offer double the cycle life of conventional cyclic use batteries at 75 per cent depth of discharge (DOD). The new batteries are suitable for use in a wide range of applications encompassing mobility scooters and mobility aids, electric tools, lawn mowers, power packs, portable apparatus, golf trolleys and golf carts, lighting, instruments and solar.
According to the company, Yu-Power YPC series batteries feature low-maintenance and a valve-regulated construction, combined with heavy-duty plates and innovative separator systems to deliver cyclic capability twice as long as conventional counterparts. The new batteries are capable of up to 500 charge/discharge cycles for a long service life.
Battery electrolyte is retained solidly in the separator and the innovative gas recombining system ensures minimum gas discharge, thereby freeing the user from any maintenance requirements. The plate barrier prevention and separator systems help to ensure deep discharge use and prolonging considerably the battery service life.
Cyclic-use batteries are often left in a discharged state after use and the resultant plate corrosion can lead to a shortened life. With a self-discharge rate as small as 0.1 per cent per day at 20degC, the Yu-Power YPC range avoids this problem and extends the storage period capability.
Ten 12V models are available in the new Yu-Power YPC range offering higher capacities from the same footprint as standard cyclic batteries. Nominal capacities at 25degC (20hr rate) are 8.5, 13.94, 22, 26, 30, 35, 46.8, 55, 78.7 and 104Ah.
Available from stock, the new Yuasa Yu-Power YPC series of deep cycle cyclic batteries complements the company's wide range of industrial batteries and intelligent chargers.
