Renishaw hosts Technology Teardown Workshops

Play is an important part of toddlers' development and some of the most commonly used toys, like building blocks and puzzles, are based on the principle of assembly and disassembly to help children acquire dexterity and understand cause and effect. The same idea can be applied to the study of technology. Here Dave Collingwood, Principal Engineer at Renishaw, explains the benefits of Technology Teardown workshops, where students, aided by engineers, disassemble domestic technology to understand how its component parts, work together, to perform the function of the product.

Herga Technology renews ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 accreditations

Herga Technology has successfully completed independent renewal of its ISO 13485:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 quality management accreditations. Through a challenging four-day audit in June an extensive assessment ensured that Herga's quality management systems - which are rigorously applied across all aspects of its business - fully meet the statutory and regulatory standards that ensure it sustainably delivers the high quality medical and industrial grade footswitches and hand controls required by its valued customers. The ISO 13485:2016 medical standards complement individual IEC/UL 60601 approvals for medical grade switching and sensing products. With ongoing annual reviews, these renewed accreditations will run until 2022.

CloudNC aims to halve the cost of CNC machined parts

Schneider Electric's smart factory: an Industry 4.0 Lighthouse

Schneider Electric has had its Smart Factory in Batam, Indonesia, designated as an Advanced 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) Lighthouse by the World Economic Forum at its 13th Annual Meeting of the New Champions (AMNC). The Batam site is the third of the company's factories to receive this recognition, joining its Le Vaudreuil site in France and its Wuhan site in China which were designated as Lighthouse and Developing Lighthouse sites respectively in 2018.

Renishaw opens new facility in Mexico

To support its rapidly growing customer base, Renishaw has opened a new facility in Nuevo LeÃ³n, Mexico. The building, which was formally opened on May 8th, 2019, provides customers with technical support, demonstration and training facilities for the company's innovative products in metrology, healthcare and additive manufacturing.
