Powerstax appoints new design engineer

Powerstax has recruited a new Design Engineer, Harit Pokharel, at their research and development and manufacturing facility in Wickford, Essex, where he will work on switched mode and transformer rectifier products. Harit recently completed his Masters in Electrical Power Engineering from University of Greenwich with Distinction.

Easy design, configuration and 3D printing of double gears

Double gears are an essential part of the everyday life of designers. When force, torque or speed in gears need to be changed, this task can only be performed if the geometry of the teeth is optimised. To enable manufacture of high performance geometrically complex gears such as these, time and money has to be invested. Even slight inaccuracies increase the wear and the noise. To remedy this problem, igus has extended the functionality of the gear configurator for 3D printing.

Live demonstrations from Micro-Epsilon at PPMA Show

See Renishaw's interactive Gromitronic in Bristol

Tens of thousands of people are this summer visiting Renishaw's Gromitronic, one of the ground-breaking interactive sculptures featured in the first interactive trail of its kind, Gromit Unleashed 2. Organised by The Grand Appeal, the 67-sculpture trail is raising money for Bristol Children's Hospital and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael's Hospital, Bristol. Renishaw's interactive Gromit can be found at M Shed in Bristol until Sunday 2nd September, 2018.
