Intelliconnect report high sales and profit growth in 2017

Intelliconnect (Europe) Ltd greatly improved their sales and profit figures in 2017. Roy Phillips comments: "We have had a fantastic year of growth in both sales and profitability despite difficult UK market conditions. Our sales are export led and have been helped by the weak pound but our true growth has really been due to product innovation and diversification and improved penetration of new markets including medical and cryogenics."

Changes to the Board of Managing Directors of Schaeffler AG

At today's meeting, the Supervisory Board of Schaeffler AG appointed Andreas Schick (47) to become Member of the Board of Managing Directors of Schaeffler AG as of 1 April 2018. He will take over the role as Chief Operating Officer of Schaeffler AG from Oliver Jung (56) who has decided not to extend his contract and will leave Schaeffler AG as of 31 March 2018.

Dawson Shanahan invests in training the next generation

Dawson Shanahan is yet again placing a priority on training the next generation of engineers by taking a stand at the Big Bang Fair North Wales this March. The event, organised by the Engineering Education Scheme Wales (EESW), will be held on Tuesday 13 March 2018 at Venue Cymru, Llandudno, and is one of the largest events in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). Dawson Shanahan's decision to attend the event is part of the company's wider commitment to investing in young people, via apprenticeships, to build up a skilled workforce for the future.

Procter Machine Safety has published the 12th edition of On Your Guard - A Designer's Guide to Machinery Guarding Standards. This revision of the popular guide now runs to 19 pages and features updated tables of machinery safety standards, new HSE statistics for machine-related accidents, and amendments to the sections Useful Resources and Further Information.

Machinery Directive CE Marking training from amtri veritas

amtri veritas is organising a Machinery Directive and CE Marking training course on 23/24 April 2018 in the south Manchester area. amtri veritas is a UKAS-accredited Notified Body that performs machinery directive examinations, assists with CE marking, conducts PUWER assessments and is accredited for ISO 9001 management system certification. Throughout 2018 the company will be conducting training courses in the Machinery Directive, EN 13849 control system safety, PUWER, risk assessment, and ATEX, DSEAR and IECEx.

RARUK Automation adds traditional robots to its product line

RARUK Automation has teamed up with TM Robotics to offer the Toshiba Machine SCARA, Cartesian and 6-axis robots. The systems complement the company's established product programme that has been focussed on collaborative and mobile transport robots, automation systems and feeding devices. These new product additions will give RARUK Automation even greater scope to help UK manufacturers work smarter and more competitively.

Renishaw contributes additive manufacturing expertise to CECIMO

Renishaw is contributing its additive manufacturing (AM) specialist knowledge to European machine tool trade association, CECIMO. The trade body represents national associations of machine tool builders across 15 European countries. Following the appointment of senior manager, Stewart Lane, to the CECIMO board in 2015, the company has contributed and shared its specialist AM knowledge and expertise as well as attended events to support the trade body.

Renishaw shortlisted for Company of the Year at PLC Awards

Renishaw has been shortlisted for Company of the Year at the PLC Awards, 2017. The annual awards are sponsored by PwC and supported by the Financial Times and the London Stock Exchange. The ceremony will take place on 15 March 2018, at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. This marks the first time Renishaw has been shortlisted in the category, which is awarded to a company that has demonstrated long-term success.
