Rockwell Automation continues to expand MES applications

Rockwell Automation continues to build out its scalable MES applications to allow operations to configure their environment without programming, add more applications, increase DCS process system integration, and expand deployment options. A new suite of capabilities improves functionality across its portfolio of scalable MES applications based on the FactoryTalk ProductionCentre platform from Rockwell Automation. The portfolio includes FactoryTalk Production, FactoryTalk Performance, FactoryTalk Quality and soon FactoryTalk Warehouse applications.

Stemmer Imaging ended its business year 2016/17 on 30 June 2017 with a turnover of 88.7 million Euros and an exchange rate adjusted growth of 6 per cent. After 44 years, the company's founder Wilhelm Stemmer is handing the company over to proven successors.

£10k CheckMate Print Head verifies tricky CIJ printed codes

With heightened safety standards for manufacturers and the need for effective batch control, at PPMA 2017 on stand G44 ClearView Imaging will be launching the new CheckMate Print Head, a more accurate and affordable on-line batch verification print and vision system. The high-performance vision system promises to revolutionise the verification of continuous ink-jet-product and batch information on a huge variety of packaging formats, designs, colours and substrates allowing for controlled batch recalls.

5th year of continuous revenue growth for AWS Group

AWS has announced continued revenue growth for a fifth year running. Since its consolidation strategy in the UK at the turn of the decade, AWS has invested significantly at both its Newcastle-under-Lyme site in the UK and its NÃ¡mestovo facility in Slovakia, allowing for greater expansion in its offering. This has included the addition of seven SMT lines in the facility in Slovakia with 21 pick and place machines.

How to avoid guide wear on drive chains

igus has released a video that shows the wear resistance of its iglidur stock plate chain guide. Drives chains transmit mechanical power from one place to another; a common industrial application is a conveyor. For these long runs, chain guides are used that are often made of polypropylene or a similar low-cost material. Wear problems that occur on these moving applications can be rectified quickly by means of stock plate made from high-performance engineering plastics, such as iglidur.

maxon motor group increases revenues

The maxon motor group further increased its revenues in 2016. Compared with the previous year, revenues grew by 5 per cent to a new record level of CHF422.5million (from CHF402.5million in the previous year). The Swiss market recovered from the currency crisis called 'Frankenschock' and revenues jumped to CHF62.7million (up from CHF54.3million in the previous year). The cash flow increased to CHF41.7million (from CHF39.3million). The number of employees rose to 2500. For the first time in the company's history, maxon is employing more people abroad than in Switzerland. The highest revenues were achieved in medical technology, followed by industrial automation and robotics, as well as the aerospace industry, whose share continued to grow. Europe showed healthy growth, while Asian markets had a comparatively moderate development. maxon invested significantly in expanding its capacities and brought a large number of new technologies and innovations to market. Overall, maxon succeeded in expanding its leading position. A solid revenue development in the current year gives the company confidence for the future.
