Hilscher plans first "˜coupler' between CC-Link IE and PROFINET

When the CC-Link Partner Association (CLPA) and PROFIBUS & PROFINET International (PI) announced a new joint specification to allow easy interoperability between CC-Link IE and PROFINET, they centred the specification on the functionality of a "˜coupler' device which would allow transparent communication between the two protocols. Now Hilscher has demonstrated their intent to bring the first coupler products to market, enabling both networks to seamlessly share information.

IDS: successful in the vision market for two decades

2017 is a special year for industrial camera manufacturer IDS. Jürgen Hartmann founded the company in 1997, together with his business partner at the time, Armin Vogt. They are two men with one vision and one success story. This year, IDS celebrates its 20th anniversary and now has 220 employees who work mainly at the German headquarters in Obersulm, but also internationally in three subsidiaries and three offices.

New EMKA Catalogue has even more ingenious locking technology

EMKA now have available their 2017/2018 general catalogue packed full of established products and many new ones. These include quarter-turn locks and latches, an extensive modular program of swinghandles with matching rod locking systems and enclosure/cabinet sealing gasket profiles. Substantial space is given over to hinges for prominent and flush doors. The catalogue is available free in printed or online forms.

NORD Drivesystems at LogiMAT China 2017

At the 2017 LogiMAT China exhibition, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS showcased a very user-friendly drive electronics innovation - NORDAC LINK field distribution systems - available as frequency inverters and motor starters for interconnected conveyor systems. They feature manual control switches and maintenance switches for especially easy operation and service access, and are also equipped with PI controllers and an onboard PLC to empower smart autonomous applications.

Belden Inc has published a special edition of Industrial Cyber Security for Dummies. The book, which was written by David Meltzer and Jeff Lund, is a Belden/Tripwire Special Edition. It can be downloaded free of charge as a PDF and it is also available in a regular print edition.

Kistler Group acquires IOS GmbH

Kistler Group is taking over Aachen-based IOS GmbH, provider of MES (Management Execution System) software and hardware systems, with immediate effect. In doing so, Kistler can now offer the manufacturing industry a modular production monitoring system that covers the entire value chain, from sensors to production planning and control.

Darren Rhodes is new Managing Director of Procter Bros Group

Procter Bros Group, of which Procter Machine Guarding is a division, has appointed Darren Rhodes as its new Managing Director. Darren was previously Managing Director of spring manufacturer Leggett & Platt, where he led a rapid development and growth strategy for the UK business unit. He has a proven track record of running a multi-site manufacturing business and successfully applying business improvement strategies.

Procter Machine Guarding has won a prestigious UK award for delivering excellent customer service. At the recent Health & Safety Matters exhibition the company was presented with the Highly Commended award for customer service in the British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) Safety Awards 2017.
