How robust is a stainless steel leadscrew module?

igus has released a new video highlighting the new stainless steel option in its drylin SHT range of leadscrew modules, made entirely of 304 grade stainless steel. To ascertain how robust this rugged module is, a madcap engineer at the company's German headquarters in Cologne decided it would be fun to put the drylin SHT-ES through its paces.

Schaeffler and Audi to cooperate in powertrain development

During the German home round of Team ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport in Berlin (June 10/11) Schaeffler and Audi agreed on an extensive cooperation in the development of the powertrain for the next three generations of the Formula E racing car. Schaeffler Chief Technology Officer Prof. Peter Gutzmer and Peter Mertens, Member of the Board of Management, Technical Development AUDI AG, signed a three-year agreement in Berlin-Tempelhof.

Collaborative robots as market drivers: 2016 report

The World Robotics Report 2016 from the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) higlights how compact, user-friendly collaborative robots are expected to drive the automation market. The report predicts the worldwide annual sales of industrial robots to increase by at least 13 per cent on average per year from 2017 to 2019. Human-robot collaboration will have a "˜breakthrough' in this period, enabling robots and humans to work safely side by side without any fences, while increasing production efficiency and quality.
