Bauer geared motors power hospital's underground monorail

A large hospital complex can often resemble a small town in its size and complexity; many separate wards are joined by a narrow corridor system where the smooth transfer of supplies is often interrupted by busy doctors and nursing staff. One of Europe's largest hospitals has solved the problem with an automated underground mono-rail that supplies medicine, food and linen with minimal effort and at low cost. Bauer geared motors drive the vehicles and operate the track points.

Resilient potting compound for Tough Tracker from Intertronics

Tough Tracker was established to counter a problem in the scrap metal market - of not knowing where scrap bins (skips, etc.) are located if they get lost or stolen. Electronic tracking devices need to be both robust and with good battery life. Tough Tracker was developed with a high-tech composite casing (Formula 1 grade, stronger than steel) with a combination of a GPS satellite positioning system (the same GPS as used in spacecraft and aeronautics), quad band GSM transmitter with cell location function, anti-jamming technology and a 3-axis accelerometer for ultra-sensitive motion detection.

Controlled by NUM's Flexium CNC kernel, the upgrade converts any of the veteran Cincinnati 2-OM family of centreless grinder machines to the same kind of automated and precision machining available on state-of-the-art grinders - but for an outlay that is some 60 per cent lower than a new machine.
