With Security Evaluation of Machinery (SEM) and Security Assessment of Machinery (SAM), Pilz helps to identify and minimise cyber risks on machinery at an early stage and provide reliable protection for systems. Companies receive support with the implementation of current legal requirements, such as the EU Machinery Regulation and Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), but that's not all; handling Security issues safely also helps to reduce risks, drive innovation and strengthen competitiveness.

New legal requirements such as the Machinery Regulation or CRA focus on systematic identification and assessment of safety risks throughout the entire lifecycle. This is exactly where Pilz's new Industrial Security Services come into their own.

Security for Safety: Protect what's important

Under the guiding principle Security for Safety, the new services aim to identify, assess and prioritise potential threats and security vulnerabilities in machinery at an early stage. In this way, companies safeguard functional safety, product quality, plant availability and data confidentiality, while avoiding costly downtimes and production losses. The functional Safety of machinery remains the essential foundation - Industrial Security ensures that Safety is effectively protected and guaranteed in the long term, even in increasingly networked environments. In particular, manipulation of safety-related functions and corruption of machine and process data are prevented.

SEM and SAM - individually or as a pair

Pilz's two new Industrial Security services are modular in design:

With Security Evaluation of Machinery (SEM), Pilz helps to assess the Industrial Security status of individual machines or entire fleets of machinery. Critical security gaps are identified and the need for action is prioritised - for a quick overview, initial compliance measures and to improve the Security level.

With Security Assessment of Machinery (SAM), Pilz offers a comprehensive Security risk assessment in accordance with IEC 62443. This includes the analysis of network segmentation and interfaces, as well as the evaluation of potential attack paths, including specific measures and strategies for the long-term mitigation of Security risks.

Holistic approach throughout the entire lifecycle

The new services complement Pilz's existing Industrial Security portfolio, which ranges from training and services to solutions and products. With this holistic approach to Safety and Security, Pilz helps companies to implement current security requirements and ensure that machinery is reliably protected throughout its entire lifecycle.
