New training course: Safe Human-Robot Collaboration

Pilz is introducing a new one-day machinery safety training course in 2017, Safe Human-Robot Collaboration. The first takes place at the Pilz training facility in Corby, Northamptonshire on 27 March. See below for other training courses taking place in March and April 2017.

New training course: Safe Human-Robot Collaboration

Collaborative robots (cobots) are designed to allow humans and robots to share the same working space at the same time, without the need for a safety fence. What conditions need to be met to ensure injury-free interaction between human and machine? How is the CE marking conformity assessment procedure carried out? The new training course shows attendees what they need to take into account when evaluating an HRC (human-robot collaboration) application and which measures must be implemented.

Course contents include the following:

  • Basic aspects of robot safety
  • Compliance with machine safety standards such as BS EN ISO 10218-2 (Robots and robotic devices. Safety requirements for industrial robots. Robot systems and integration) and Technical Specification PD ISO/TS 15066 (Robots and robotic devices. Collaborative robots)
  • Risk assessments and safeguarding of robots and robot systems
  • Execution of risk assessments based on a sample application
  • Identification of measuring points and sensor positioning
  • Collision measurement in accordance with ISO/TS 15066 limit values

This new training course is suitable for design engineering managers, technical engineering managers, design engineers, robot system integrators, safety officers and project engineers in production units where collaborative robots may be implemented.

By adopting collaborative robots, work processes can be made more efficient. However, cobots must be used in a safe way, so the practically-orientated course teaches attendees about the use of relevant standards and the procedures to be followed when conducting a robot system risk assessment.

Courses are scheduled for 27 March, 11 May, 24 July and 10 October 2017.
