Pilz launches world's first IP67 safety/automation PLC
With the PSS67 PLC, Pilz is introducing what it claims to be the world's first safety and automation PLC with IP67 ingress protection. The PSS67 PLC can therefore be installed outside the control cabinet, directly on the machine, meaning users can save space, reduce wiring and enjoy greater flexibility when implementing decentralised control architectures.
Flexible, decentralised automation systems are increasingly in demand for extended, distributed plants and machine lines. Due to its fully encapsulated module electronics, the new PSS67 controller is particularly robust mechanically: it is protected against dust and temporary submersion and can be used for temperatures from -30 to +60degC.
As a safe PLC controller, the PSS67 PLC is suitable for applications up to the highest category PL e. Pilz says its PSS67 PLC is part of the PSS 4000 automation system; it is fully compatible with other controllers in the system and is easy to integrate into existing architectures. The well-tried PAS4000 engineering software is available for programming in IEC 61131-3 programming languages as well as the PASmulti Editor. The PSS67 PLC has 16 safe digital inputs for the direct connection of safe sensors and can be combined with the compact PSS67 I/O module for connecting input and output devices in the field.
The whole device configuration can be stored on a securely integrated microSD card. This makes it easier to exchange devices because you only need to change the micro SD card. No reconfiguration is required.
