Renishaw awards £10,000 for Super Science school competition

Renishaw has awarded £10,000 of prize money to six local schools who won its Super Science competition, held in collaboration with the Bristol Post and BristolLive. The winners are using their prize money to purchase resources and fund activities to support the science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) curriculum to get pupils excited about these subject areas.

New spherical roller bearings benefit from greater durability

Schaeffler is successively introducing new rolling elements in all 241-series spherical roller bearings in X-life quality with bore diameters of 500mm and above. The new barrel rollers are characterised by their end profiling, an optimised micro-geometry on the ends of the rollers. This enhancement makes them significantly more robust in use.

Specification of Profinet with TSN is now complete

The goal set by PI (Profibus & Profinet International) to integrate TSN as additional Layer 2 technology in the Profinet architecture has been reached with the current Profinet specification V2.4. The specification work has been completed and the three parts of the document are available for download on the PI website. Manufacturers and users alike can interoperably implement the advantages offered by TSN, such as future-proof IEEE Ethernet technology with higher bandwidth, deterministic, flexible network configuration and a large range of chips already available.

Baumer to launch new sensors at PPMA show

Baumer Ltd will be showcasing their extensive range of sensors for packaging and food and beverage applications at the PPMA Total Show, NEC, from 1-3 October 2019 on Stand D54, Hall 5. Launched at the show will be a new multi-spot laser measurement sensor with Ethernet interface and webserver, together with robust, IP67 ultrasonic sensors.

Stemmer completes acquisition of Spanish group Infaimon SL

Stemmer Imaging has concluded the acquisition of the Spanish group Infaimon SL. Stemmer Imaging is acquiring 100 per cent of the shares in the supplier of software and hardware for machine vision and robotics after approval of the transaction by all the relevant antitrust authorities. Consequently, the latest acquisition will be consolidated by Stemmer Imaging starting from 1 July 2019, as previously announced. The Management Board expects an additional revenue contribution of around EUR 18 million and an EBITDA contribution of around EUR 3 million in the 2019/2020 financial year.

Nexperia receives Bosch Global Supplier Award

Nexperia has received a Bosch Global Supplier Award in the category "˜Purchasing of direct materials - Mobility Solutions'. Nexperia was one of only 47 companies from Bosch's 43,000-strong supplier base to be honoured with such an award for its outstanding performance and teamwork in 2017-2018.
