Renishaw raises £4000 for charity Wrong Trousers Day

Renishaw employees raised over £4000 for charity by supporting Wrong Trousers Day on 29 June 2018. On the day, employees ditched their usual workwear in favour of weird and wacky trousers to raise money for The Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children's Hospital charity. Renishaw is also supporting The Grand Appeal's Gromit Unleashed 2 trail as a Trailblazer and has designed and manufactured an interactive sculpture for the trail, known as Gromitronic.

Update on an advanced physical layer for industrial Ethernet

FieldComm Group, ODVA and PI (Profibus & Profinet International) joined together to provide an update on developments that are underway to realise an advanced physical layer for Ethernet that can be used in process automation and instrumentation to connect field devices in remote and hazardous locations, commonly referred to as "APL". The organisations were joined by representatives from suppliers of process instrumentation and controls in order to provide a well-rounded perspective on the benefits of an advanced physical layer for end users in the process industries, as well as discuss the actions being taken to complete the work needed to realise APL in process field devices.

NSK appoints APRB Center in Moscow as new Certified AIP Partner

The latest company appointed as an official NSK Certified AIP Partner is APRB Center in Moscow, which becomes the first distributor in Russia to achieve AIP certification. Nominated by the Russian branch of NSK Polska, APRB Center has been recognised following more than 15 years of strong market support and performance, particularly in sectors such as pulp and paper. The company has become proficient at helping customers with tasks such as bearing selection, data collection, resolving technical issues, total cost of ownership (TCO) calculations, mounting assistance and training provision.

Learning how to use IO-Link Wireless

At the end of June this year, an IO-Link Wireless workshop at Helmut-Schmidt University in Hamburg, Germany concluded with great success. More than 60 participants learned about IO-Link Wireless over the course of two days. The goal was to give participants a greater understanding of the technology and put them in a position to develop IO-Link Wireless devices themselves through the use of practical demonstrations and interactive workshops. The group of participants was made up of both developers from many well-known device manufacturers and the technology representatives of a variety of end users.
