Partnership with AL-KO AG secures Stemmer Imaging's future

The Munich-based AL-KO AG, parent company of the internationally active AL-KO Kober SE, has as of 30th June 2017 acquired 75.04 per cent of the shares in STEMMER IMAGING GmbH from the company's founder Wilhelm Stemmer. The successful management team acquired a share of 24.96 per cent in the company as part of the transaction.

AWS Electronics achieves NADCAP approval for 6th year running

AWS Electronics Group has successfully achieved NADCAP certification at its Newcastle-under-Lyme, UK, facility, for the sixth year in a row. The National Aerospace and Defence Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP) is a key certification that demonstrates an "˜industry-managed approach' to special processes and products within the aerospace and defence sectors. The continued achievement of this unprecedented accreditation demonstrates AWS' commitment to a cooperative industry effort in improving the quality assurance within these sectors.

AWS Group celebrates 10th anniversary of Slovak facility

AWS is celebrating its 10-year anniversary since the opening of its original factory in NÃ¡mestovo, Slovakia. In May 2007, AWS acquired a small business out of administration with just 12 employees assembling simple cables at a small industrial unit in Slovakia. AWS' vision was to use this platform to grow a larger low-cost manufacturing facility in North Slovakia. Whilst a key attraction lay in the low-cost labour rates, AWS also recognised the skillset of the Slovak population. Following Slovakia's withdrawal from communism in 1989, the Slovak government immediately made English language compulsory in education, and thus all of AWS' senior middle management team are fluent in both written and spoken English, a somewhat unusual factor for a low-cost offshore facility.

Global motion control market is returning for solid growth

Following a significant market decline in 2015, the global motion control market regained a concrete growth in 2016, totalling over $10.8 billion hardware revenues, with more than 21 million units shipped. Looking forward, IHS Markit expects the world market for motion control controls to sustain a steady growth trend, registering a 4.4 per cent revenue CAGR from 2016 to 2021, reaching nearly $13.4 billion in revenues in 2021.
